What are Rolling Papers?

Rolling papers are used for making roll-up cigarettes, blunt wraps, or weed joints and can be made from a range of materials, from organic hemp to rice. When making a joint, all you need is your dry herb, rolling paper, a rolling tray, and a lighter and you are ready to go.

Depending on the smoker's preference, rolling papers can be purchased in different sizes such as small, single-wide papers to king-size rolling papers. Various flavorings can also add a touch of spice or fruitiness to your smoke. What to look for when buying Rolling Papers?

When purchasing rolling papers, there are three key factors that you should consider, these are material, flavor, and size.

Rolling Paper Materials

Whether you are an experienced smoker or a beginner, it is essential to know how each rolling paper material can roll and burn differently, with some offering more durability, and others offering additional flavor. Rolling papers are thin sheets that can be made from paper, rice, clear cellulose, or organic hemp.

What is the difference between blunt wraps and rolling papers?

As opposed to a joint that consists of dry herbs wrapped in a thin paper, a blunt replaces the paper with a tobacco leaf wrap. A blunt is preferred by some as you also get a nicotine rush from the tobacco, as well as the effects from the weed. However, using rolling papers is considered a slightly cleaner and healthier way to smoke.

How do I roll my blunt wrap or rolling paper?

Rolling a paper or blunt takes practice and for some people, it can be a tricky process. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to roll a paper.

First, grind your herbs on a rolling tray, preferably using a weed grinder. If you do not own a weed grinder, then this can be done using your hands or a pair of scissors.
Next, you need to make a crutch for the joint, if you have not already purchased specially-made tips or filters. Make a few accordion-folds with your chosen crutch material based on your preferred thickness for the joint. As well as providing filtering qualities, the crutch also provides stability to the joint.
Fill your joint with herbs and begin shaping the paper with your fingers.
It is now time to pack the joint by rolling the papers back and forth between your fingertips. This packs the herbs down into the final cone stage. If you find this difficult, you may want to invest in a joint rolling machine.
The fifth step requires you to tuck the unglued side of the rolling paper into the roll, then roll it up and glue the edge. When tucking in the paper, it is advised to start with the filter end and work your way down the joint.
Finally, you need to give the joint a poke with a pen or needle-like object to ensure the joint will burn evenly. Once this is done, twist the end to stop any of the herbs from falling out, and then it is ready to smoke.

What is the easiest type of rolling paper to use?

Pre-rolled cones are the easiest way to prepare your roll-up if you are not using a rolling machine. Pre-rolled cones are available in small and king-size and do not require you to do any rolling yourself. All you need to do is fill the cone, light, and smoke.
