Advantages of growing indoors

There are many reasons to grow your marijuana plants indoors -- or, perhaps more precisely, there are plenty of reasons to not grow marijuana outdoors. Even in places where the law allows personal marijuana cultivation, outdoor growing carries the risk of theft, weather issues, and legal threats in prohibited states.

If you grow indoors, you won’t have to worry about these issues, and the environment is completely under your control. Pretty much everything, in fact, can be organized according to your specific desires, and the particular needs of your plants. Numerous types of growing systems are available, including hybrid systems and closed systems.

Hybrid systems

Hybrid systems

There is a broad range of different kinds of hybrid systems, from the simplest setup to an extremely complex one only recommended for experienced growers. A greenhouse with artificial heating, for example, is on the more complex end of the spectrum, while having some potted marijuana plants set in front of the window falls into the simpler category. This has the added benefit of using natural sunlight, which many growers assert is the best way for any plant to get its needed light.

Even if you have a small apartment with large windows, and you place your potted marijuana plants in front of it, this qualifies as a hybrid system. The ideal situation is when these windows reach all the way to the ground, as that allows the plants to be grown in pots on the floor. This, in turn, lets them absorb more carbon dioxide, since it sinks downwards after a human’s exhalation.

Closed systems

If you don’t have the windows for it or can’t afford to display your plants to the outside world, try a closed system instead. This will allow complete control of the growing environment as well as privacy, and therefore added security. A closed system requires more work to be done by the grower, but the payoff can also be much greater when performed optimally.

For any professional growers or organizations, closed systems are a must. They allow for the highest efficiency and best yields, and other special effects can come out of it through mutation that can only occur in such a system. Ample amounts of nutrients, in the proper ratios, can be supplied to the marijuana plants in a closed system where the growing seasons know virtually no bounds. Daylight and nighttime hours can be adjusted according to the grower’s desires. More growing in my free grow bible.

Maintaining your grow room

Maintaining your grow room

The processes required to set up and maintain an indoor grow room is not as complex as you might expect. A proper grow room should contain everything that your marijuana plants might need throughout their lives. You will be responsible for continually supplying good soil, adequate fertilizer, and proper amounts of water. If you prepare properly by doing your homework, you will have a fantastic yield at the end of your growing season.

To keep things simple, your marijuana plants are going to require light and darkness at regular intervals. The optimum cycle is roughly 20 hours of light, and four hours of uninterrupted darkness, with the temperature always remaining around 70 degrees Fahrenheit. When your plants have reached a certain age (or, more importantly, a certain size), you will need to change the light cycle to twelve hours of alternating light and dark. This change in lighting will spur your marijuana plants to begin their flowering phase, as they will “think” the seasons are changing.

Regardless of what growing methods you employ; you always need to start things off with high quality seeds that have top-notch genetics. Without good genes, you will not end up with the best possible harvest, no matter how much effort you put into growing healthy, full plants.
